Old Nassau Dining Stroll. A culinary tour to Bahamian bites, rum-cocktails and local restaurants. Takes 2-3 hours and costs around 90 Euros.
Sometimes rated as a “6-star”-resort the Ocean Club now managed by Four Seasons is definetly the most elegant resort in the Bahamas. It was opened in 1962 featured famously in the opening sequence in the James Bond adventure Casino Royale. The colonial style main building which guests enter at arrival gives an instant retro feeling and the lawn chairs in the grass, the winding paths through the lush gardens (14 hektas, 35 acres) and the phantastic 8 kilometer long white beach enhance the impression. The ocean club has 107 rooms and suites and basically consists of two wings: the modernized Crescent wing and the original Hertford wing plus several villas and cottages. There are two pools: a modern big one for families overlooking the Atlantic and the original one viewing the terraced Versailles inspired gardens which is more quiet and adult only. Sport lovers find six tennis court, a gym and a badminton court. We recomend the balinese style spa for those who want to relax. Foodwise the “Dune” is a gourmet restaurant overlooked by a french chef several times a year and enchants in the evening with a unique atmosphere including a jazz singer, flickering candles and the sea. Alternatively you could try a conch-salad for lunch at the “Versailles Terrace”. Ocean Club guests are entitled to access the swimming pools and the breathtaking aquarium of the nearby giant Atlantis hotel, complimentary shuttle included.
