LOCATION AND STYLE
A quarter of an hour from Heraklion airport lies this architecturally beautifully designed complex in the style of former Minoan palaces, the heart of which is built around a large artificial lagoon (in which swimming is not permitted). If you just want to relax, you will find a beautiful sandy beach and a huge sea water pool of Olympic dimensions. For sporty guys, there are three tennis courts with floodlights, a small water sports center (kayaks, sailing) and the most beautiful golf course in Crete (18 holes) is very close by.
ACCOMODATION
The Amirandes is one of 40 hotels in the largest Greek hotel chain, Grecotels, which has hotels in various categories from cheap to luxury. This principle also applies to the Amirandes itself, where there are both spacious standard rooms (at least 31 square meters) and a separate part for the villas. The highlight there: the Grand Royal Residence with 378 square meters. It costs around 6800 euros in high season. Per night, of course. Anyone looking for smart luxury can vacation cheaply in the Amirandes in the off-season. A luxury room with a sea view (35 sqm) costs 919 euros/night in August, and 324 euros in the off-season. The Villa Amirandes Creta, 85 sqm on two floors, with terrace, private pool and sea view, which can also be seen in our film, costs 2,537 euros/night in August, and 906 euros in April (prices for 2025, without guarantee, subject to change). The private pools (there are 58) can be heated to up to 25 degrees, but this costs a hefty 90 euros per night.
ACITIVITIES OUTSIDE
Anyone who wants to see a bit of the island of Crete doesn’t have to go far from the Amirandes. The famous Palace of Knossos is only 22 kilometers away, and the Cretaquarium, which is well worth seeing, is only 5 kilometers away. And Heraklion with its shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as the airport, can be reached in a quarter of an hour.
EAT AND DRINK
There are seven restaurants and two bars, the top restaurant is called Minotaur, which offers Italian gourmet cuisine (there is only one set menu) and where you can eat among original ceramics by Pablo Picasso. An interesting half-board concept can also be booked, which is not valid within the resort, but also for restaurants in other Grecotels on Crete (20 Euro voucher per person). In the resort itself, this includes breakfast and a main meal (lunch or dinner). From 7 nights, two free meals in à la carte restaurants are included.
