The Northwest Passage on a tourist expedition ship. The quest for a shipping route on top of the world was one of the world’s severest maritime challenges. The passage would have shortened the route to the Far East, to the spices of India, China, Indonesia, Japan by more than half. More than 300 men died at the attempt to find this legendary route. Now lovers of expedition cruises can do the Northwest Passage though it remains a privilege for relatively few people.
